NBA Top Shot Tips Off New Season with Rookie Autographs and Interactive Collectibles

The National Basketball Association (NBA), the National Basketball Players Association (NBPA), and Dapper Labs, creators of the Flow blockchain, have announced their most ambitious NBA Top Shot season yet, reimagining how fans experience basketball through officially licensed digital collectibles.

A New Era for Digital Fandom

Since launching in 2020, NBA Top Shot has transformed the way fans engage with the sport, merging real-time NBA action with digital ownership

By collecting and trading “Moments” — officially licensed highlights stored on the blockchain — fans around the world have been able to celebrate the game in a completely new way. This season marks the next evolution of that vision, with more dynamic packs, immersive designs, and groundbreaking player partnerships.

Headline Partnerships with Rising NBA Stars

The 2025–26 NBA Top Shot season will feature headline partnerships with top rookies such as Cooper Flagg, Yang Hansen, and other rising stars. These players will debut digital autograph inscriptions and exclusive 1-of-1 signature collectibles, setting a new benchmark for rarity and authenticity in sports memorabilia.

Each collectible will include updated foils, textures, and interactive design elements, offering fans a more engaging and visually striking experience than ever before.

The Power of the NBA Rookie Market

NBA Top Shot’s renewed focus on rookies stems from growing collector demand for first-year player highlights.

Historically, rookie Moments have been among the most sought-after on the platform.

For example, fewer than 5,000 collectibles featuring Victor Wembanyama or Cooper Flagg will ever exist, preserving long-term scarcity and value. This scarcity-driven model has fueled NBA Top Shot’s continued popularity and made it a staple of digital sports collecting.

A Commitment to Permanence and Authenticity

The NBA, NBPA, and Dapper Labs reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining the permanence and verifiability of NBA digital collectibles.

Every dunk, assist, and buzzer-beater captured on Top Shot is independently retrievable and verifiable on chain. This on-chain permanence ensures that collectors’ digital Moments remain authentic, traceable, and secure — a foundation for what Dapper Labs describes as lasting pieces of basketball culture.

“NBA Top Shot was built to bring fans closer to the sport they love, ensuring that each digital collectible remains an authentic and lasting piece of basketball culture long term,” said Roham Gharegozlou, CEO of Dapper Labs.

“This season we’re taking the next step — delivering autographs and interactive collectibles from the NBA’s next generation of stars while securing the highlights themselves on chain.”

Setting the Standard for the Future of Collecting

With its global audience of collectors, NBA Top Shot continues to lead the convergence of sports, technology, and community.

By introducing autographed and interactive collectibles powered by the Flow blockchain, Dapper Labs and the NBA are defining what the future of fandom looks like.
