A New Institutional Standard for Digital Assets

The platform, developed in collaboration with Dfns, provides a unified framework for custody, transactions, and settlement — giving regulated entities a single, compliance-ready solution to handle tokenized assets, stablecoins, and other digital financial instruments.

With tokenization rapidly becoming a core pillar of financial modernization, IBM Digital Asset Haven offers banks and governments a critical onramp into the blockchain economy while maintaining the security, compliance, and governance standards that IBM is known for.

with Dfns Strengthens Infrastructure and Security

Dfns, a leader in digital wallet infrastructure, has built over 15 million wallets for more than 250 clients, and brings its proven custody technology into the IBM ecosystem.

Together, IBM and Dfns aim to move digital assets from experimental pilots to full-scale, production-grade financial systems.

“With IBM Digital Asset Haven, our clients have the opportunity to enter and expand into the digital asset space backed by IBM’s level of security and reliability,” said Tom McPherson, General Manager of IBM Z and LinuxONE.

Enterprise-Grade Security for the Digital Economy

Built on IBM’s industry-grade infrastructure, the platform incorporates Multi-Party Computation (MPC), Hardware Security Modules (HSMs), and quantum-safe cryptography. It also integrates the IBM Offline Signing Orchestrator (OSO) for cold storage — a regulatory requirement in many jurisdictions.

That hybrid model ensures both operational flexibility and compliance, offering SaaS, Hybrid SaaS (LinuxONE/IBM Z), and on-premises deployments.

Comprehensive Capabilities Across the Digital Asset Lifecycle

IBM Digital Asset Haven provides a full-stack solution for:

  • Transaction Lifecycle Management, automating blockchain processes across 40+ networks.
  • Governance and Entitlement Management, with programmable multi-party approvals and granular policy controls.
  • Integrated Third-Party Solutions, including pre-built services for KYC, AML, and yield generation.

“For digital assets to be integrated into core banking and capital markets systems, the underlying infrastructure must meet the same standards as traditional financial rails,” said Clarisse Hagège, CEO of Dfns. “Together with IBM, we’ve built a platform that goes beyond custody to orchestrate the full digital asset ecosystem.”

IBM Digital Asset Haven will roll out via SaaS and Hybrid SaaS in Q4 2025, with on-premises availability expected in Q2 2026.
