VALR-Stormers Partnership Details

The three-year collaboration, which runs until Aug. 31, 2028, spans all Stormers Rugby teams competing in the Vodacom United Rugby Championship (URC), Investec Champions Cup, Carling Currie Cup, and SA Rugby U19 and U21 tournaments.

As part of the agreement, VALR branding will feature prominently across the DHL Stadium, including the front of official match and training kits for the Stormers, Western Province Currie Cup squad, and junior age-grade teams. The crypto exchange will also operate a branded VIP Suite for institutional partners and clients.

Fan-Centric Activations

The exchange plans to roll out a series of interactive fan campaigns throughout the season. These include “team trading” competitions, crypto-powered reward programs, and exclusive opportunities for supporters to win match tickets, VALR merchandise, and signed DHL Stormers jerseys.

Fans will also be invited to attend VALR community meetups, integrating the excitement of professional rugby with the utility of digital finance.

A Boost for South African Crypto Adoption

VALR CEO and co-founder Farzam Ehsani highlighted the alignment between the exchange’s mission and the Stormers’ ethos:

“We are very excited to partner with the DHL Stormers, a team whose passion and excellence mirror our aspiration for a unified, inclusive financial future. This collaboration accelerates crypto adoption across South Africa and the African continent as a whole, empowering fans with new and delightful experiences.”

He added that the partnership strengthens South Africa’s standing as a global crypto hub, while promoting financial inclusion and innovation.

From the Stormers’ perspective, the partnership represents both financial support and a symbolic alignment with cutting-edge technology. Johan le Roux, CEO of Stormers Rugby, said:

“It is fantastic to have a South African company with global reach such as VALR on board as an official partner going forward. We stand at the beginning of an exciting new era for our team and we are looking forward to collaborating with VALR as we take on the rugby world from the Mother City with the support of the Western Cape and beyond.”

Riding the Wave of Crypto-Sports Partnerships

The deal reflects a broader global trend of cryptocurrency brands securing visibility through sports sponsorships. For the exchange, it offers access to the DHL Stormers’ passionate international fanbase, while reinforcing its identity as South Africa’s leading digital asset platform.

Founded in 2018, VALR now serves over 1.5 million users worldwide and more than 1,400 institutional clients. Its comprehensive offerings range from tokenised U.S. stocks to spot, margin, and futures trading, as well as staking, lending, and payment services.

With this partnership, VALR joins a growing list of crypto companies embedding themselves into mainstream sports, showcasing digital assets as a force for innovation, community, and global connectivity.
