Earlier in the day, a correspondent from RIA Novosti reported that two vehicles with flashing lights were seen leaving the National Anti-Fraud Bureau in the suburbs of Paris, where Durov was allegedly held. The high-speed departure fueled speculation that Durov was being transported to court.

According to RIA Novosti, Durov’s court appearance before the investigating judge could lead to the formal presentation of charges. “The investigating judge stopped the detention of Pavel Durov and brought him in for the first interrogation and possible presentation of charges,” a source close to the case disclosed.

The charges against Durov are part of a broader judicial investigation initiated by French prosecutors, who have accused him of conspiracy with illegal activities, money laundering, criminal association, and providing cryptology services without prior declaration. The investigation, which began in March, has garnered significant attention due to Durov’s high profile and the scope of the allegations.

The Paris Prosecutor’s Office, or Parquet de Paris, is expected to release a statement later today, shedding more light on the charges and the next steps in the legal proceedings. The potential ramifications of this case could be far-reaching, not only for Durov and Telegram but also for the broader discourse on digital rights and government oversight.
